Teeth whitening can be done in the office or at home. There are two types of teeth whitening available to patients. The first is bleaching, which changes the colour of the tooth using chemicals. We would recommend talking to your dentist about this procedure to ensure you have the best results possible. In some cases teeth bleaching is not ideal due to filling, crowns, or tooth sensitivity. We also recommend having a dental cleaning before the process.
The second option is whitening through polishing such as toothpaste. This is a less abrasive form of whitening, however, does not produce the same results as bleaching.
Veneers are thin custom porcelain shells that are bonded to the front surface of the original tooth. Patients choose to get veneers when they want a custom smile in shape and whiteness, to fill a gap created by the teeth, to align teeth (as an alternative to orthodontics), to whiten a smile that has permanently stained teeth, or to repair a chipped or worn down.
Contouring is the process of reshaping the tooth by smoothing rough edges, adjusting the tooth length and general shape of the tooth (round or square).
